Takoma For All (TFA) is proud to endorse candidates for all positions in the 2024 elections for Mayor and City Council. TFA thanks all of the candidates who responded to our questionnaire, and to the TFA members who served on the election steering committee.
Takoma For All members were eligible to vote, and based on the responses we received to our questionnaire, we endorsed the following candidates:
Mayor: Talisha Searcy (100% of votes)
Ward 1: Shana Fulcher (94% of votes)
Ward 2: Cindy Dyballa (89% of votes)
Ward 3: Matt Bormet (1st choice) and Lucy Moore (2nd choice)
Ward 4: Kurt Gilbert (72% of votes)
Ward 5: Cara Honzak (89% of votes)
Ward 6: Amy Wesolek (1st choice) and Ambroise Agosse (2nd choice)
Note: Councilmember Jason Small declined to respond to the TFA questionnaire, explaining he planned to do the same for all candidate questionnaires. Ward 4 Candidate Tony Kyre did not respond.
Voters were also able to provide brief comments about their votes.
One voter stated, “I’ve been impressed with Talisha’s focus on facts and process, and ability to steer the Council toward productive votes.”
On the Ward 1 race, voters expressed, “Shana’s leadership, particularly on street safety, has been very effective and I’m excited to see what she will accomplish for our city in her second term” and “Shana Fulcher’s approach to housing showed the benefit of not only her lived experience of being raised by a single Mom in Takoma Park, but also being deeply in engaged in the debates surrounding the Minor Master Plan Amendment.”
On the Ward 3 race, a voter highlighted “Matt and Lucy both represent a new generation of Takoma Park leaders and I think they would both represent Ward 3 well.”
We also urge all voters to be civil, kind, and respectful to each other and all candidates in the coming weeks, be that in conversations in person or online.
More information about the candidates is located on the Takoma Park public website, including information on how to vote.
Takoma for All is an informal group of Takoma Park residents and does not spend money to influence local elections. We solicit these responses from candidates and make endorsements for informational purposes only.
